About Bourbonnais, IL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Bourbonnias, IL is a village in Kankakee County with a population of approximately 20,000.  Founded in 1875, the town is named for Francois Bourbonnais, Sr.  Bourbonnais was a fur trapper who arrived in the area in 1830 after marrying a Native American woman.  This area of the country is characterized by 4 distinctive seasons and is ideal for people who enjoy changing weather patterns throughout the year.  If you plan to visit in the winter you should expect cold and snow while a visit in the summer will provide hot, humid weather perfect for swimming and other sports.

Speaking of sports, this area is no stranger to athleticism.  Close to Chicago, Bourbonnias residents are Bears fans and look forward to the football season each year.  This is not just because they love the regular season football games but, because, each year the Bears come to visit.  The town is home to Olivet Nazarene University, where the Chicago Bears hold their training camp each year. Each hot summer, the football team spends a little over a month in the village practicing and preparing for the upcoming season.  This makes this a place worth visiting in the summer for any football fan.

The Kankakee River is a tributary of the Illinois River which runs through Bourbonnais, as well as the surrounding towns within the county.  In the nice Spring and Summer days, the river is a great place to fish, swim and enjoy water sports and boating.  This area is great for any outdoor enthusiast. The Village of Bourbonnais, in particular, is home to over 100 acres of parkland that offer a wide variety of activities.  There are basketball courts, tennis courts, picnic shelters, bike trails, hiking trails, river access and more.

If you’re not such an “outdoorsy” type or if you are looking a way to stay warm and cozy on a cold, winter day then you should check out Northfield Square Mall.  This mall has a variety of department stores as well as a movie theatre and other shops.  If you are looking for more high end shopping or for the city experience then a short drive to Chicago while allow you to shop at a variety of “big city malls” such as Ford City Mall, The Atrium Mall or The Shops at Northbridge (which is more of an outdoor shopping area than a mall so dress for the weather!)
