Frankfort, IL is a small town not far from Chicago.  With a population of approximately 18,000, Frankfort was named the 36th fastest growing suburb in the country by “Forbes” magazine.  It is undoubtedly a great place to live, work and play.  It has been recognized over and over as a wonderful suburb.  As a matter of fact, in 2014, Frankfort was named as one of the top places to live by “Chicago Magazine” and voted among the top 12 safest communities in Illinois. Weather in Frankfort is typical of this region with 4 distinctive seasons. In the spring, it is warm and rainy and in the summer it is hot and humid while fall is cool and comfortable and winter is cold and sometimes snowy.  This is yet another reason why this town is such a great place to live.  You can swim in the summer and the ski in the winter.  There is something for everyone. 

Frankfort's historic downtown is well known for its 1890's charm with unique boutiques, quality restaurants, a children's museum and a wide variety of family-friendly events.  Frankfort residents and government officials have created a vibrant town center that represents this small town well.  Breidert Green is home to events all year.  These include warm weather activities like a farmers' market, outdoor concerts and movies, award-winning craft and art fairs, classic car shows, a Fine Arts Fair and a 5k.  In the winter, the town is still alive with activity with a variety of holiday events as well as a winter festival.

Outdoorsy types will be in heaven in this area with a plethora of sports and athletic activities as well as many parks and more.  The Old Plank Road Trail in Frankfort is a 20 mile bike bath which runs through town and provides access to the historic district.  Prairie Park on White Street is a picturesque 13 acre nature preserve that is beautiful on a warm, spring day or a cold, snowy December day.  Those who enjoy the outdoors cannot miss Kankakee River State Park in nearby Bourbonnais where you can hike, picnic, hunt or fish in the warm months and snowmobile or cross country ski in the winter.

You should check out Northfield Square Mall in Bourbonnais which is home to a variety of department stores as well as a movie theatre and other shops.  If you are looking for more high end shopping or for the urban experience then a short drive to Chicago while allow you to shop at a variety of “big city malls” such as Ford City Mall, The Atrium Mall or The Shops at Northbridge.
