About Manteno, IL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Manteno is a small town about 40 miles outside of Chicago, Illinois. Its weather is like the rest of this region’s.  With cold winters and hot summers, the seasons change each year making this a great place for people who love swimming and snow skiing equally.  Manteno is considered one of Illinois’ fastest growing suburbs and is a great place to live, work and play.  It is home to some large warehouses and is a safe and quiet town.  This is a great place to raise a family and a good choice for commuters from Chicago.

Manteno was named after a half-Indian maiden, daughter of Francois Bourbounnais, Jr. (for whom nearby town Borbounnais is named) one of this region’s earliest settlers. This area of Illinois is rich with history and you will find a great deal of Native American influence throughout the region. One of the best ways to spend a cold winter’s day in this part of the world is to do some historical exploring and learning. The Kankakee County Museum is a wonderful educational opportunity located in nearby Kankakee. With a wide variety of exhibits, from African American history to World War II history as well as gardens, there is much to see, explore and discuss and would be equally fun for adults and children. Also in Kankakee, The B. Harley Bradley House was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1900. The B. Harley Bradley House marks the beginning of Frank Lloyd Wright's Prairie School period which became Wright's best known style.  You should also visit Frankfort for a quick walk down memory lane. Frankfort's historic downtown is well known for its 1890's charm with unique boutiques, quality restaurants, a children's museum and a wide variety of family-friendly events.

If you love to be outdoors then this area is absolutely wonderful for you and your family.  There is much to do in every season and for any age group or skill level. Whether you love to snowmobile or swim and hike, there is something for everyone and every season. The Kankakee Valley Park District maintains a large number of parks and facilities and holds a wide variety of events and activities.  Nearby towns also offer a lot of opportunities for those who love nature and being outside. The Old Plank Road Trail in Frankfort is a 20 mile bike bath which runs through town and provides access to the historic district and you simply cannot miss Kankakee River State Park in nearby Bourbonnais where you can hike, picnic, hunt or fish in the warm months and snowmobile or cross country ski in the winter.  Prefer to watch sports and activities rather than to play them?  Then you’ll be excited to know that Bourbonnais is home to the Chicago Bears’ training camp every summer, as well!
